James Carraway
Trial Attorney
James Carraway grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and received his degree in Political Science from Hawaii Pacific University, where he was recruited to play collegiate baseball on a full sports/academic scholarship. James attended law school at California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. He won California Western’s Distinguished Advocate Award and competed nationally on California Western’s trial team. As a member of California Western’s trial team, James won the San Diego Defense Lawyers Trial Competition, and competed in the Texas Young Lawyers Association and Tournament of Champions trial competitions.
After law school, James worked at the San Diego City Attorney’s Office where he took over 30 criminal jury trials to verdict as a Deputy City Attorney. He was a Team Lead in the General Trial Unit and was one of two attorneys in San Diego County prosecuting Drug DUI cases. He finished his prosecutorial career in the Special Prosecution Unit, specializing in all cases involving fatal traffic collisions and high-profile misdemeanors. While at the City Attorney’s Office, he volunteered his time as a Mock Trial coach for Crawford High School and E-3 Civics High School.
